Mukut Mithi is new LG of Pondy; Lakhera shifted to Mizoram

New Delhi, July 10 (UNI) Former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Mukut Mithi has been appointed Lieutenant Governor of Pondicherry, a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique said today.

Lt. Gen. (retd) Madan Mohan Lakhera, the present Lt. Governor of Pondicherry, has been made the new Governor of Mizoram following the expiry of the term of A R Kohli.

Gen. Lakhera will, however, continue to hold his additional charge as Lt. Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Rashtrapati Bhavan said.

Mr Mithi was Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh between 1999 and 2003.

Bihar Governor R S Gavai has been given the additional charge of the Raj Bhavan in Sikkim where Governor V Rama Rao is presently on leave.

The appointments of Mr Mithi and Gen. Lakhera will be effective from the date when they assume charge while that of Mr Gavai takes effect from July 13.
