Monsoon bring welcome showers in UP, rivers near danger mark

Lucknow, July 10 (UNI) Seven people died in Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hours even as monsoon burst with all its fury in the state and major rivers were also nearing the danger mark.

Following the deaths, the death toll in rain related incidents rose to 35.

Meanwhile, heavy downpour was reported from almost all divisions including Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Faizabad, Allahabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Moradabad, Bareilly divisions.

According to the Central Water Commission here, all rivers including, Ganga, Yamuna, Ghagra, Gomti, Rapti, Ken and Sharda were rising, but were still below the danger level.

Meanwhile, farmers heaved a sigh of relief on the blessings of the rain god as prospects of crop have become good.

At the same time, people at other places were also faced with problems following heavy load-shedding and disruption in telecom facilities.
