Hard core militants released from Thailand

Imphal, Jul 10: Four People's Liberation Army (PLA) cadres has been brought back from Thailand by a team of Manipur police.

Police sources said here yesterday that these cadres were arrested in Thailand on March 10, 1997 for alleged attempt to smuggle arms and explosives.

The four PLA cadres were released by Thailand government though they were given life terms. For good conduct, they were released by by the Thai government.

In a separate incident, troops of 21 Assam Rifles apprehended a Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) cadre. Based on specific information, the troops launched search operations in Kakching Khunou and apprehended the RPF cadre .

Three live rounds AK-47 Rifle, one 12 volt Yuasa battery, 20 mtr wire and electric switches were recovered from the possession of the cadre and he was handed over to Kakching police station, IGAR S HQ press release said.
