MCD chief guilty of criminal contempt: HC

New Delhi, July 10 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today held the Municipal Commissioner and the MCD Chief Law Officer guilty of criminal contempt for circumventing its order of closing all the farmhouses used for commercial purposes.

Responding to a writ petition filed by M S Ahluwalia representing Bhrashtachar Virodhi Sangthan, a Division Bench of Acting Chief Justice Vijender Jain and Justice Kailash Gambhir asked the two officials to appear in person with their replies before the court on August 21.

The court had earlier given the same order on three occasions July 6 and December 6 last year, and February 17 this year, leaving little scope for ambiguity.
