Jeev misses The Open ticket by single shot at European Open
County Kildare, Ireland, July 10 (UNI) Jeev Milkha Singh missed the chance to qualify for The Open Championship by a single shot despite a stellar final round performance of two-under 70 to finish tied fourth at the 42,36,000 dollar Smurfit European Open here.
Jeev finished three shots behind winner Stephed Dodd of Wales at the K Club after firing a four-day total of six-under 282 and earned over 126,000 euros.
It extended the seasoned pro's superb run this season giving him his ninth top-10 finish of the season, which includes a victory at the Volvo China Open.
However, Jeev would be a touch disappointed as he narrowly missed out on a ticket to The Open Championship next week, with England's Anthony Wall (281) booking that place after finishing tied second.
Jeev started with a bogey but came back superbly with four birdies over five holes from the fourth and carded two more on the 16th and 17th for his strong finish.
The Asian Tour Order of Merit leader will now be seen in action at the Barclays Scottish Open later this week.
Meanwhile, Jyoti Randhawa was tied 61st after signing off with a 78. Randhawa ended with a four-day total of nine-over 297.
He hit four bogeys and two double-bogeys against two birdies on the fifth and 15th to slip down from yesterday's tied 55th spot.
