Indefinite strike enters 13th day

Jammu, July 10: The indefinite strike of lawyers, demanding transfer of sex scandal case to Jammu from Srinagar, entered 13th day today.

The lawyers, who started indefinite strike on June 28 against denial of right of defence and threat issued to lawyers in Srinagar while representing their clients, were absent from court proceedings.

Meanwhile, the agitation has badly affected the court proceedings and judicial work in the region. Judiciary sources said over 10,000 cases in Jammu and Kashmir High Court and other lower courts have been affected.

President of Bar Association Jammu Ved Raj Wazir told UNI that the association would hold a meeting tomorrow or day after tomorrow to decide future course of action.

The Kashmir Bar Association in Srinagar has imposed a ban on its members appearing in the court on behalf of those arrested or chargesheeted in connection with the scandal.
