'I am not for birthday celebrations": AP CM
Hyderabad, July 10 (UNI) Making it clear that he was personally against celebrating birthday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said only to avoid 'embarassment' to himself and his well-wishers, he had left the State on his birthday.
Talkng to newspersons here, Dr Reddy, who completed 57 years said ''I spent the whole day with my family members and did not stir out of the hotel in Goa.'' ''I feel that only those upto 15 years and above 70 years should celebrate birthdays'', he said adding that his Septuagenrian Cabinet colleagues were eligible for it.
The Finance Minister K Rosaiah, Sports Minister M Satyanarayana Rao and Municipal Administration Minister Koneru Ranga Rao have crossed the age of 70.
''I have not taken part in birthday celebrations for over two decades'', he said.
Asked if he was confident of continuing as the Chief Minister on his 60th birthday, he smilingly said ''let us see''.
The Chief Minister who chose to keep his Goa visit on Saturday last purely a family affair, visited Jerusalem on his birthday last year.
