HAL, Samtel float JV for manufacturing avionics display systems
New Delhi, July 10 (UNI) State-owned defence aerospace company Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) and Samtel group today floated a joint venture, Samtel-HAL Display Systems Pvt Ltd, in 40:60 ratio, for developing and manufacturing avionics display systems.
The JV will focus on developing entire range of cockpit avionics' display systems.
''By this (JV) we have established a centre of excellence where we would develop state-of-the-art avionics display systems,'' Samtel CMD Satish Kaura said.
On the investment, Mr Kaura said, initially it would involve Rs 5-6 crore, but large amounts will be pooled into the second phase of manufacturing.
With this initiative, the Samtel group is expecting a revenue of Rs 300 crore in the next four-five years.
Mr Kaura termed the JV, the first public-private partnership in defence avionics, a ''significant step towards developing indegenous next generation Multi-Functional Displays (MUDs), Head UP Displays (HUDs) and Helmet-Mounted Targetting systems.'' He said the avionic display systems, including multi-function displays (AMLCD) and head up displays (CRT or LCD), would be economical than what are being procured from abroad.
