Farmers seek increase in import duties
New Delhi, Jul 10: Farmer leaders today staged a demonstration here seeking increase in the import duties of agricultural products including cotton and restoration of Quantitative Restrictions.
The protesting farmers, carrying banners and placards, demanded that fisheries sector to be taken out of NAMA negotiations and also out of the WTO.
They urged the Indian negotiators not to give up for any concessions in areas such as General Agreement on Trade in Services and also protect farmers by state support on products for domestic consumption.
