Drivers Union call Manipur bandh tomorrow

Imphal, July 10 (UNI) The All Manipur Petroleum Tankers Drivers' Union has called a 12-hour state-wide bandh from 5 am to 5 pm on July 11 to protest the arrest of two drivers.

The drivers were arrested for alleged attempt to extort money from IOC officials.

The drivers had stopped working from July 4, demanding drinking water, sanitation facilities, parking, security, roster system, issuing permits to lift oil and to stop Supervisor P Borah from allegedly taking money from the drivers, besides the unconditional release of the two drivers.

Due to the stir, there were problems in lifting oil to various depots. The government has made alternative arrangements to make oil available to the people.
