Disinvestment on hold not under pressure: Congress
New Delhi, Jul 10 (UNI) The Congress today said there were no serious differences within the Congress on the issue of disinvestment of PSUs.
The party as a whole is committed to the idea of disinvestment. The Congress has had a broad discussion within the party cadre on the matter, Congress Spokesman Satyavrat Chaturvedi said.
Denying that disinvestment proposals were put on hold under pressure, he told reporters here that since the DMK had its reservations on disinvestment of the NLC, it was thought prudent to consider its points of view and sort out the matter.
"We will consider all views and take decisions after evolving consensus on disinvestment," he said."This shows political maturity to take into account all views. We are sensitive to the feelings of the people," Mr Chaturvedi said.
Replying to a question on whether the Congress has any regrets over running a coaltion government, the Congress Spokesman said,"we chose to go in for coalition not out of compulsion but for duty towards the nation. We have no regrets." UNI YS RP HT1940
