Council adjourned amdist noisy scenes

Bangalore, July 10 (UNI) Amidst noisy scenes, Chairman Sachidananda Khot today adjourned the Karnataka Legislative Council for an hour with the opposition Congress raising the issue of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 150 crore from the mining lobby.

The Congress wanted to give notice of an adjournment motion on the issue with leader of the Opposition H K Patil demanding the resignation of Mr Kumaraswamy and seeking a CBI probe into the allegation made by a member of the coalition partner BJP.

Mr Patil said the government had lost moral power to remain in power.

Mr V R Sudarshan (Congress) said Mr Kumarswamy had brought a disgrace to the Chief Minister's post and this was a fist time the state was witnessing such an incident. He also demanded the Chief Minister resign from the post immediately.

Leader of the House and Higher Education Minister D H Shankarmurthy urged for taking up the question hour first. He said he was not against the prelimnary submision on the adjournment motion but it could be taken after the question hour.

Mr Khot adjourned the house for an hour as the Congress stuck to its demand for allowing the issue to be taken up as an adjournment motion setting aside other business, including question hour.
