Central Bank employees to go on one-day strike tomorrow
New Delhi, July 10 (UNI) More than 33,000 officers and employees of the Central Bank of India (CBI) will go on one-day country-wide strike tomorrow to protest against unilateral transfers, violation of policies and settlements and delay in settling of retirement benefits.
The bank employees and officers will stage a sit-in at Jantar Mantar besides holding a rally there.
The leaders of the four unions of the bank officers and employees which sponsored the strike call alleged that on one side the Bank management seeking the cooperation of staff citing the bad financial health of the institution but at the same time chose to victimise the employees and their representatives.
In face of the intrasigent and obstinate positions of the management, the employees are left with no option but to go on strike, a joint statement of the unions said here today.
The unions threatened that if the management continued to dillydally on their demands which also include withdrawing of transfers of office-bearers, restoring of staff welfare schemes and adopting existing norms of discussion with the employees representatives, they would be forced to intensify their agitation.
Signatories to the statement are: Central Bank Workers Union, Central Bank Staff Union, Central Bank Officers Union and Central Bank Officers Congress.
