CBI raids on Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan official

New Delhi, July 10 (UNI) Raids at seven places across three states revealed crores of rupees worth property and assets amassed by a District Youth Coordinator of the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, the CBI said.

The raids in Delhi, Haryana and Chhattisgarh showed crores of rupees of disproportionate assets amassed by Balbir Sharma, the NYKS Coordinator for Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh, the agency spokesman said.

Sharma, who had joined NYKS in 1989, had undertaken ''substantial movable transactions by way of huge deposits worth about two crore rupees in his and his wife's bank accounts in Delhi'' between February 2002 and May 2003, he said.

Sharma also allegedly acquired a house at Aurangzeb Road here worth over Rs 1.25 crore in the name of Prithvi Traders Private Ltd of which he is a Director.

The CBI has registered a case under section 13 (2) read with 13 (1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, against the official of the NYKS, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
