BJP sells essentials to protest price hike
Varanasi, July 10 (UNI) In a protest against the price hike under the UPA government, the opposition BJP today set up shops in Lahurabir area here to sell essentials at prices during the NDA regime.
The BJP workers of Varanasi North assembly constituency led by Ravindra Jaiswal set up two shops to sell essentials -- one selling at rates during the UPA regime and the other at prices prevalent when the NDA was in power.
Addressing the gathering, state BJP excecutive member Ashok Pandey alleged during the UPA regime, prices of essentials including foodgrains and petrol products have been doubled.
''At least 250 commoners purchased essentials ranging from wheat and rice to cooking gas and petrol, reflecting that the public believed in former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's India Shining and not Manmohan Singh's Sinking India,''he added.
