BHEL staff observe token fast

Tiruchirapalli, Jul 10 (UNI) About 50 employees affiliated to various trade unions of the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) unit here observed a day's fast here today demanding overtime allowance for the staff.

The fast was led by Labour Progressive Front General Secretary Muthu Karuppan. The agitators said BHEL's profit had doubled last year while employee strength had come down to 9,000 from 17,000 and hence they should be paid overtime allowance.
