B'desh delaying setting up land customs station
Aizawl, Jul 10: Bangladesh government is delaying setting up of a Land Customs Station (LCS) for legal trade at Chakamukh.
India had already set a LSC at Tlabung in southern Mizoram.
Bangladeshi delegates were forced to discuss upon setting up of a LCS at the Fourth Meeting of Indo-Bangladesh Joint working Group on Trade yesterday.
Sources at the meeting said Bangladesh delegates were reluctant to talk on the issue but were forced to discuss after the intervention of Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh V. Sikri and Union Commerce Ministry joint secretary M P V C Sastri.
Although there are 176 trade points between India and Bangladesh, Mizoram has a single LSC at Tlabung to cover its 318 km border.
The officials said trading would become quite easier if Bangladesh opens one trade point on its side.
