Badal charges Congress with assualt on Akali-BJP meeting

Chandigarh, July 10 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal(Badal) President Parkash Singh Badal today charged the Congress with armed assault on a peaceful meeting of Akali-BJP leaders at Ludhiana yesterday.

In a statement here, he alleged that the assault was the ''handiwork of Congress goons and criminals elements disguised as Akalis with Mr Simranjit Singh Mann providing the so-called ''panthic camouflage''.

The SAD (Badal) President asked the Prime Minister to come clean on whether the Opposition in Congress ruled states, especially in Punjab, was going to be denied even the elementary right to hold meetings in peaceful atmosphere.
