Supreme court posts Ayodhya hearing to August
New Delhi, Jul 10: The Supreme Court will hear the Union Home Ministry's application seeking permission to raise the height of the wall around Ram temple in Ayodhya in the first week of August.
A Bench comprising Mr Justice K G Balakrishnan and Mr Justic DK Jain today fixed the date after the Union government mentioned the matter for urgent hearing.
The Home Ministry had filed this petition on May 19, 2006 in view of the 'status-quo'order passed by this court in December 1992 after the demolition of Babri Masjid. The Minsitry is also seeking permission to provide bullet proof security to the 'grabh grah' (sanctum Sanctorum).
The application has been moved in view of the recent terrorist attack on the religious places like Akshardham in Gujarat, Sankat Mochan temple in Varanasi. Scores of people lost their lives in these attacks and hundreds were injured besides causing extensive damage to the temple.
