Another Muslim outfit to bring minorities under one banner
New Delhi, Jul 10 (UNI) Close on the heels of the formation of the United Democratic Front(UDF)of Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari, another Muslim political outfit-Muslim Muttahida Mahaz(MMM) has been launched in Uttar Pradesh to unite minorities under one banner ahead of assembly polls, scheduled for early next year.
The MMM will be headed by Qari Mohammed Mian Mazhari and its members included top scholars and religious leaders of Barailvi sect,besides other groups. Even Chairman of the UDF Haji Yousaf Qureshi met Qari Mazhari and hoped that the two Muslim groups work together to ensure victory of secular forces in the state, who can work for the upliftment of the minorities.
Qari Mazhari was elected President of the MMM at a function at Lucknow on Sunday, which was attended by over five hundred Muslim leaders from various parts of the state. Qari Abdul Sami, Mufti Azam Kanpur, Sheikh Abul Hasan of Darul Uloom Wardia, Lucknow will be chief patrons of the party.
Congress leader Dr Sanjay Singh, former Chief Secretary L K Punia, Sunni Wakf Board Chairman Hafiz Mohammed Usman also lauded the efforts of Qari Mazhari in bringing minorities under one banner.
