Alliance with DMK to continue in Panchayat poll: Elangovan

Coimbatore, July 10 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Textiles and the Congress leader E V K S Elangovan today said the present alliance with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) would continue in the forthcoming Panchayat elections in the State and the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) would seek more seats to contest.

Talking to newspersons here he said the participation of Congress in the Tamil Nadu Government was discussed with the party president Sonia Gandhi.

Mr Elangovan said ''it is not one way path. It has both sides,'' while reacting to the Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's statement on the Neyveli Lignite Corporation issue that the DMK would withdraw from the UPA Government, if the disinvestment process has not been stopped.

Mr Karunanidhi, however, said the State Government has to think about the participation and subsequently he thought of continuing in the Central Government, he added.
