Oppose UPA anti-labour policy: AITUC to workers
Visakhapatnam, Jul 10: All India Trade Union Council (AITUC) General Secretary Gurudas Dasgupta today called upon the trade unions and workers to fight unitedly against the anti-workers and anti-farmers policies of the United Progressive Alliance(UPA) Government.
Inaugurating the 38th National Conference of AITUC here he said a nationwide strike would be organised in protest against the Government apathy in resolving the issues of workers.
Mr Gupta said unemployment in the Private Sector units should be opposed, apart from addressing issues of inequality in economic policies and the plight of farmers. A Legislation to provide social security to 37 crore workers in the unorganised sector will be tabled in the monsoon session of Parliament, he added.
He criticised the functioning of Multinational companies, Centre's disinvestment plan in profit-making public sector undertakings(PSU) and lack of social security measures to the workers engaged on Contract basis and daily wages. The need of the 'Hamalis' working in the unorganised sector should also be taken into consideration, he added.
