57 blasts in Asom in last six months

Guwahati, July 10 (UNI) Altogether 57 blasts had occurred in Asom from January 1 to June 26, Environment and Forest Minister Rockybul Hussain informed the state Assembly today.

Replying on behalf of the Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, he said altogether 536 killings including 119 cases involving women and children, 148 cases of robbery and 483 cases of rape were registered during the period in the state.

While 15 citizens lost their lives in police firing during the first six months last year, 27 civilians and eight security personnel were killed by extremists during the same period, Mr Hussain said.

The minister claimed that operations carried out under the Unified Command has yielded success and the security agencies were conducting operations jointly.

Mr Hussain said security personnel have been deployed in all sensitive and vital installations to prevent any untoward incident.
