200-seated modernised building inaugurated at the IGM Hospital

Agartala, July 10 (UNI) A 200-seated state-of-the-art new building in the Indira Gandhi Memorial (IGM) Hospital was today inaugurated by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar at a simple function.

After inaugurating the new modernised building the Chief Minister expressed the hope that the hospital would be able to serve the people in a better manner and people would not have to go outside the state for treatment.

He further added that patients from outside the state mainly from North Eastern States would also come here to get better treatment.

A new Radiological unit under the public-private scheme has been set up by the Sethi Diagnostic and Medical Centre Private Limited in the new complex. The unit will have the facilities of spiral CT scan which is for the first time opened in this land-locked state.

The project was completed at a cost of Rs 10.38 crores.

Mr Sarkar said that to improve the medical facility in the state three more new modernised Civil Hospitals will be established at Udaipura in South Tripura, Dhalai District and at Kailashahar in North District respectively shortly.

He also lamented the fact that there are inadequate blood banks in the state and announced that the state government will take up all possible steps to open more such blood banks to facilitate the patients to get blood whenever needed.
