Soccer final is homely affair for French in Pondicherry

Pondicherry, July 9 (UNI) With France taking on Italy in the World Cup finals tonight, the football fever has gripped the above 10,000 French nationals here.

The French nationals are making arrangements to watch the final match in groups tonight. Former member of the French Lower House Col Mohammed Mustaffa told newspersons they were having dual citizenships and in the absence of India in the FIFA World Cup, their full support would be for France.

Announcing France as the favourite to lift the World Cup, he said they would watch the match live on TV.

The football fans in this tiny Union Territory are also eagerly waiting for the match at 2330 hours. The electricity authorites in some areas were urged to ensure undisrupted power supply to facilitate watching the World Cup final.
