Police bust theft worth Rs 3 lakh, four arrested
Aurangabad, July 9 (UNI) The rural police here busted a gang of thieves engaged in theft of copper wire from DP boxes and seized some stolen material from them.
The police detained four persons, Shaikh Sheru Bidmiya (35), Shaikh Bhikan Shaikh Sharif (23), Shaikh Asif Shaikh Hanif (28) and Shaikh Haider Shaikh Ansar (24), from Mahalgaon bus stand here and seized a car, 2.5 kg of copper wire and other materials, worth Rs three lakh from their possession.
Acting on a tip-off that the accused were about to escape with the stolen material in a car, the patrolling team of the rural police detained the four, said a senior Crime Branch PI. The material stolen by the accused belonged to the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDC). Further investigations are on in the matter.
