Nicol upsets Rachael,lifts title

Hyderabad, July 9 (UNI) World Champion Nicol David of Malaysia added one more feather to her cap, when she annexed the 80,000 dollar Qatar Airways Challenge WISPA World Tour Squash Championship at Falaknuma Palace here tonight.

In a nearly one-hour long final, that fizzled out into a lop-sided affair, the second seeded Malaysian upset the apple cart of top seed and reigning champion Rachael Grinham of Australia, winning the last 24 points in a row.

Down by a game and trailing 3-5 in the second, Nicol won 4-9, 9-5, 9-0, 9-0 to bag the winner's purse of 6,000-plus dollars and also increased her head-to-head record to 7-5 in 12 meetings.

Nicol also stopped Rachael on her tracks with a stunning display of scintillating squash and spoiled the Aussie's hopes of retaining the title.
