Mutual understanding can avert strike and lock outs:Barnala

Tiruchirapally, July 9 (UNI) If there is mutual understanding between employers and employees, there will be no room for strike, lay off or lock out, Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala said today.

Addressing the Silver Jubilee celeberations of BHEL Welder's Association here, the governor said coordination at all levels was essential to make the country into a developed nation.

He said Dr A P J Abdul Kalam's vision of a developed India by the year 2020 was not a dream but a mission for everyone to take up and succeed.

Describing Industry and Commerce as two pillars of development, Mr Barnala said use of advanced technologies, adhering to proper quality and effective marketing had led many countries to the path of development.

He said it was the responsibility of the employer to take care of the welfare of his workers.

The BHEL attained unprecedented growth rate due to the cooperation between employees and management, he added.

BHEL Executive Director V Gopalakrishnan said BHEL was standing at the threshold of great opportunity as the power sector was gearing up to receive investments of about Rs 250,000 crore during the eleventh five year plan.

He appreciated that BHEL, in association with the Department of Science and Technology was training manpower and engaging them suitably.
