Minor raped, killed

Hardwar, July 9 (UNI) A minor was raped and killed in Laksar town here, Police sources said.

Sources said the post-mortem report received from the district hospital last evening confirmed that the girl, identified as Ritu, was raped before being killed.

Arvind, a neighbour of Ritu, persuaded her to go to the nearby fields on the evening of July 7, where he allegedly raped and then killed her. Next day, the dead body of the girl was found in the fields near the Degree College.

The police arrested Arvind last evening, and registered a case against him under sections 376, 302 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code.

The Superintendent of Police (rural) Roshan Lal Sharma told UNI that the accused had admitted to the crime.
