CPI to organise dharna from July 24

Hyderabad, July 9 (UNI) The CPI will organise a dharna by sitting in front of the Parliament from July 24 to August nine, demanding that the Centre introduce the Bill for 33 per cent reservation for women in legislative bodies, Party General Secretary A B Bardhan said today.

Speaking to newspersons here, he said the National Federation for Indian Women (NFIW), a women wing of the CPI, and other women organisations would take part in the dharna. About 100 to 150 members would participate in the dharna everyday .

Appreciating the UPA Government for introducing the National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme (NREGP) and Right to Information Act, Mr Bardhan said the four-day National Council meeting of the party had assessed the performace of the Congress-led UPA government.

Demanding that the Centre introduce '' Tribal Forest Rights Bill'' in the coming session of the Parliament, he said the CPI would hold a tribal mahasabha on August second in New Delhi.
