Congress toes Marandi's "oust-Munda" slogan

Bokaro, July 9 (UNI) Three days after Jharkhand Mukti Morcha President Babulal Marandi traded corruption charges against Chief Minister Arjun Munda (BJP), the Congress today toed the line saying they will launch statewide agitation demanding CBI probe into various corruption charges.

Union Minister of State for Food Processing Subodh Kant Sahay, who came here to attend the party state unit's extended executive meeting here, told reporters that Congress was definitely contemplating an alternative government in the state in the wake of fluid political situation as the ruling NDA's image was getting worse.

Mr Marandi, who resigned from BJP's primary membership in May, recently demanded resignation of Mr Munda and demanded a CBI probe into the scam. He said he would write to the Prime Minister informing him of misgovernance.

Mr Sahay pointed out that Mr Munda had been accused of by none by his former party colleague and the Chief Minister should put in paper on moral ground.

Saying the BJP-led NDA had not been able to concentrate on developmental ptojects, the Minister added the recent statement by steel major L N Mittal that the company was not happy with the progress on the porposed Rs 40,000 crore steel plant in Jharkhand indicated the fact. That was why they were bound to rush to Orissa for another plant, he added.

However, CWC member in-charge of Jharkhand Noor Bano said the party was not required to make any attempt to pull down the government for the NDA here would collapse automatically.

The government had not been able to spend any central fund and even Rs 40 crore given two years back to contain naxalite movement was yet to be used properly.

The Congress leader said there would be mass movement to hold panchayat polls in the state.
