BMIC project: Cancel contract with NICE, says Nanje Gowda
Mysore, July 9 (UNI) Former Karnataka Minister H N Nanje Gowda today urged the state government to immediately cancel the contract signed with the Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise (NICE) for executing the multicrore Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project.
Talking to newspersons here, he said ''Though the cancellation will amount to breach of contract, it will avoid looting of money and grabbing of precious land from farmers in the name of the project.'' On the judicial inquiry into the BMIC project, Mr Nanje Gowda said it should be assisted by the CBI and the terms of reference should involve all agreements signed for the project including the Memorandum of Understanding signed during the Deve Gowda regime in 1995.
He urged former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (S) President H D Deve Gowda to come out with the agreement details. ''People of the state should know the facts and figures, besides lapses, in the project,'' he added.
