Bardhan honoured

Hyderabad, July 9 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today presented the 'outstanding contribution for social progress for the year 2006' award to Communist Party of India (CPI) General Secretary A B Bardhan, here.

Acknowledging the award, Mr Bardhan said the Left Parties were not against development schemes which would benefit the poor.

Observing that Telangana region was listed among the most backward regions in the country, he said the State Government should strive for the development of the area to bring it on par a with developed regions.

The award was instituted by the 'Ravi Narayana Reddy Memorial National Foundation'.
