26 dead in rainfall related incidents in UP
Lucknow, July 9 (UNI) Wall collapses, electrocution and lightning killed at least 26 people, including six women, in Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hrs.
Nine people each were killed in Hardoi and Lakhimpur district in separate incidents following heavy downpour.
Official sources said two members of a family died, when the roof a house collapsed in Reusa area of Sitapur district.
Another person was killed and three others were injured in a similar incident in Thakurganj area here.
A report from Gorakhpur said Urmila (40) and Rambha (17) died when a 'kuccha' dwelling collapsed in Shivpur area. Another man lost his life in Dharmashala bazaar, when he got trapped under the debris of his house.
Three people were killed when lightning struck them in separate incidents, in Sikandarpur Kallu and Tadiana villages in Hardoi district.
Sunita Devi (30) and her infant son died when their house caved-in in Beniganj police station area.
Similarly, wall collapse incidents claimed the lives of Phoolkali (5) and Shivnarain (62).
In Kotwali area, Ashu (19) got electrocuted and his father Dinesh Kumar Srivastava later died of shock.
In Lakhimpur district, a 'kuccha' house collapsed at Dhakora village in Maigalganj area killing Suman Devi and her three sons Hariom (15), Mohit (10) and Omi (2).
A similar mishap in village Ajan of Gola tehsil, claimed the lives of five members of a family.
In the Taj city of Agra, an unidentified minor girl died after she fell accidently in an overflowing 'nullah'.
Meanwhile, Sahabdin (50) was killed while his grand-daughter Sushma was critically injured when a wall came down in Maharajganj area of Jaunpur district late last night.
