1 killed, 3 children wounded

Srinagar, July 9: One person was killed and three children wounded in separate incidents while two Hizbul Mujahideen militants were apprehended by the security forces is Jammu and Kashmir since last night, a police spokesman said today.

He said three children were wounded in a grenade explosion at Bomai market in Sopore area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district at 1145 hrs this morning.

Three children playing near the spot were wounded in the explosion, the spokesman added.

One of them was rushed to the multi-specialty Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura while the other two children were rushed to the Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) hospital here.

The spokesman said militants shot dead 25-year-old Ghulam Din at Balana Sigdi Bhatta in Kishtwar area of Doda district last night.

Security forces apprehended a Hizb militant from Drasu in south Kashmir's Pulwama district last night and seized one pistol, six pistol rounds, 20 AK rounds and one hand grenade from him.

The spokesman said security forces also apprehended another Hizb militant from Sopore in north Kashmir's Baramulla district last night and seized one AK rifle, 15 magazines, 62 UBGL grenades, 24 RPG rounds and 16 RPG boosters from him.

During separate search operations at Handel Nar in the Hill Kaka region of Surankote area and Khanter Manu-Walla in the Poonch district, security forces seized four AK rifles, nine wireless sets, 12 rocket launchers, one AK magazine, 98 rounds and 15 antennas.
