Zar claims control over HPCA

Hamirpur, Jul 8 (UNI) The battle for control over Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) between rival groups has sharpened with Rajinder Zar claiming to be the real custodian of the body.

''I will approach BCCI President Sharad Pawar and explain my position after he returns from abroad,'' he said, while talking to reporters here.

Mr Zar claimed that after he took over the reigns of the HPCA several players made it big teams as compared to rival Anurag Thakur's five-year stint when only outsiders represented the state team at the national tournaments.

Besides, he said, a case was still pending with the HP High Court and that would prove which of the two was the real HPCA. ''I will wait for the court's verdit,'' he said.

Mr Zar said he had received the information about Anurag Thakur being asked to lead the HPCA through media only and that he had received nothing in black and white from the BCCI.
