Water level in Alamatti dam at 516.91 m

Bijapur, Karnataka, July 8 (UNI) The water level in the Alamatti reservoir across river Krishna in this district today recorded a slight increase at 516.91 metres as against the full capacity of 519.6 m.

Officials in Alamatti said the inflow, which was 1.6 lakh cusecs yesterday after touching two lakh cusecs on July six, had increased to 1.84 lakh cusecs. The discharge was maintained at 1.71 lakh cusecs.

The authorities had ordered the opening of 18 crest gates of the dam today after opening all the 26 gates on July six following a warning from the Central Water Commission that there was a substantial increase in the inflow into the river from upstream Maharashtra.
