UPA; a road block in development of UP: Mulayam
Kanpur, July 8 (UNI) Samajwadi Party supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today alleged the UPA government at the Centre is acting as a ''road block'' in the development of the state.
''The central government has adopted a lackadaisical attitude towards the state. But, India cannot emerge as a superpower unless UP witnesses composite development,'' Mr Yadav told newspersons here.
Asked if SP was going to withdraw its outside support to UPA in the present circumstances, he avoided any direct comment.
''...we are not against foreign investment, but it should be done through Indian companies,'' the CM added.
On the reported police 'lathicharge' at Ghaziabad today, Mr Yadav said he had come to know of the incident through media and would summon a report from the district administration in this regard.
The SP chief also rapped the centre for ''meting out step-motherly'' treatment to UP regarding power supply.
''Not only UP is being given deficit power, the centre is also charging penalty from the state,'' he claimed.
