SW monsoon active in Assam and Meghalaya

Pune, July 8 (UNI) The South West monsoon has been active in Assam and Meghalaya, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, gangetic West Bengal and coastal Karnataka.

In the regions where the monsoon is yet to set in, day temperatures were appereciably above normal - in Haryana and North West Rajasthan, and were normal in Punjab and remaining parts of Rajasthan.

Heavy-to-very heavy rains are likely to occur at most places in coastal Karnataka. Heavy rains are likely to occur at most places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and at many places in Bihar, Konkan and Goa and Kerala.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places in Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, and at a few places in gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, South interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep, and isolated places in Orissa, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Gujarat State, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, North interior Karnataka and Andaman and Nicobar islands.

Heavy-to-very heavy rains have occurred at most places in coastal Karnataka and at a few places in South interior Karnataka. Heavy rains have occurred at most places in sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Very light rains have occurred at isolated places in East Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and North interior Karnataka.
