Mumbai, July 8 (UNI) Best Bakery case prime-witness-turned perjury accused Zahira Sheikh's mother Sehrunissa is hiding in Gujarat and has refused to surrender before the sessions court, as per Zahira's younger brother Nasibullah, who has reportedly informed this to their counsel Umesh Deshpande today.

Mr Deshpande told UNI here that Sehrunissa's youngest son Nasibullah has communicated to him that his mother is at an undisclosed location in Gujarat and has refused to surrender or undergo any more prison sentence in the perjury case.

Yesterday, Sehrunissa, who was out on bail, failed to appear before the Sessions Court here in connection with the perjury case, for which she was awarded a suspended sentence of three-month imprisonment and a fine of Rs 500.

Meanwhile, a non-bailable warrant has been issued by the Sessions Court against her for not being present there for further hearing yesterday.

Earlier, the apex court had sentenced Zahira Sheikh to one-year imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 50,000 for filing false affadivits in the Best Bakery retrial.

Similarly, the Sessions Court in Mumbai had also found Zahira and her sister Sahira guilty of perjury during retrial of the infamous case and awarded three-month imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 500 each.

At present, Zahira is undergoing her consecutive sentences at the Nashik Central jail.
