Guwahati, Jul 08 (UNI) In the push for beautification, old things mostly are an eyesore unless the historic significance of those things is highlighted.

A sad fate for a number of heritage buildings on shores of the Brahmaputra in Guwahati is feared in the latest demolition drive for the city's beautification.

Among the structures likely to face demolition are the Mahafezkhana, the land records office during British rule and probably the oldest standing building in the city, and the residence of the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court.

Dubbed as the
