PCC demands explation from Chief Minister of land acquisition
Kolkata, Jul 8 (UNI) The Pradesh Congress today demanded a clear explanation from West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on what proportion of agricultural and non-agricultural land would be acquired for the setting up industries in the state.
"Earlier, we have urged to the Chief Minister for setting up a land commission which will identify the agricultural and non- agricultural land where industry would be set up on the basis of commission's report," West Bengal Pradesh Congress working president Pradip Bhattacharjee told newsmen here.
"But we are yet to receive any reponse from the state government," he added.
The Chief Minister should clarify to the people on how much of agricultural land the government was acquiring for industry in the state, he stated.
If new industries can be set up in Jharkhand on non-agricultural land, why can't the Tata Group set up their industry at Purulia instead of Singur, he asked.
The state government should decide which land would be offered for industry and not leave it to the industry, he added.
We have also urged to Chief Election Officer Debashis Sen to conduct free and fair polls to Poojali and Raigunj Municipalities, due for tomorrow, Mr Bhattacharjee said.
