Pali, July 8 (UNI) In a tug of war between politicians and bureaucrats, the Collector of Pali has been recalled to the state capital, Jaipur, for allegedly slapping a BJP leader at the Collectorate office.

However, Pali Collector Rajesh Yadav has denied slapping BJP chief of Pali and corporator Mool Singh Bhati.

In view of the case's sensitivity, the state government has sent Ajmer's divisional commissioner Dipak Upreti and Udaipur's Inspector general Rajiv Dasaut to Pali to investigate the matter, said Pali divisional commissioner B L Arya. Mr Upreti would sumbit his report to the state's chief secretary.

Mr Bhati said he had gone to meet the Collector yesterday over the ongoing encroachment drive in the town and was only narrating his side of the story when Mr Yadav reportedly got up from his seat and slapped him.

Mr Bhati staged a dharna at the Collectorate immediately after the incident. Later BJP legislator Gyanchand Pareekh pursued him to give up the protest.

On the other hand, Collector Yadav said since Mr Bhati misbehaved with him, he was shown the way out of the Collectorate.

Mr Bhati complained to the senior leaders of the BJP in the state capital.
