Janardhan, Satyavrat, Wasnik in AICC Media Dept, Rajeev out

New Delhi, July 8 (UNI) Congress president Sonia Gandhi today effected changes in the AICC Media epartment, appointing party General Secretary Janardhan Dwivedi as Chairman of the Media Cell and replacing two party spokesmen, including Mr Rajeev Shukla.

Mr Satyavrat Chaturvedi and Mr Mukhul Wasnik, both CWC members, have been named as the new party spokesman while Mrs Jayanti Natrajan has been retained as the thrid spokesperson.

Mr Abhishek Singhvi, who was party spokesman so far, has been elevated as the Vice Chairman of the Media Department, a new post created for the first time.

Mr Tom Vadakkan, Secretary of the Media Department, continues to be on the post, according to a release issued here by Union Minister and party incharge of frontal organisations Oscar Fernandes.

The members of the Media Committee will be announced later, the release added.

Mr Dwivedi, who was hitherto AICC General Secretary Incharge of Punjab and Haryana, has been elevated to the high profile post of Chairperson of the Media Cell, held by Mrs Ambika Soni until her appointment as Union Minister six months ago.

Mr Satyavrat Chaturvedi, who was General Secretary incharge of Uttar Pradesh for a while until his replacement by Mr Ashok Gehlot on the post, functioned as a Congress Spokesperson earlier too, when Mr Jaipal Reddy was the Chief Spokesman.

While both Mr Chaturvedi and Mr Wasnik stand to gain with the new changes, they also stand to lose in the sense that they will cease to be CWC members.
