Ujjain, July 8: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief K S Sudarshan said that India was going through a challenging phase and it would take a centre stage in world politics after 2011.

America and entire western countries would remain opposed to India during the bad phase, he said speaking on 'Challenges before India' at a lecture organised here last night as part of the centenary celebrations of Sangh's second chief M S Golwalkar.

Mr Sudarshan said during the alien rule of about 1000 years an attempt was made to create inferiority complex among the Hindus by propagating that India made no contribution in science and its literature was poor. Confusion was created by the British through their education method.

He said the Britishers had admitted that they had created the confusion to perpetuate their rule. Only Hindutva could keep the country united, he said.

Claiming that women occupied a respectful place in Indian society, he said women were denied equality in America till 1960 and several lakh women were slain in Europe branding them as witches.

India's science was based on religion and spiritualism, he added.
