Sirsi, Karnataka, July 8 (UNI) AICC General Secretary Margaret Alva today called upon the minority educational institutions in the country to impart secular education to its students and have an open mind on joining the mainstream of society.

Inaugurating a P.U.Science College started by IQRA Education Trust here, she, however, cautioned the other communities against neglecting Muslims and Christians in the country.

Ms Alva said women hailing from minority communities should be given sufficient opportunity in the modern world. Women were taking education seriously not only in India, but also in neighbouring countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, thereby making themselves capable of ruling their countries.

Taking an indirect dig at the Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) ''patriotic policy'', she said there was no need for a ''patriotism certificate'' for the Congress.

Noted educationist Dr V S Sonde, who also spoke on the occasion, urged the educational institutions in the country to impart value-added education to enable students to achieve personality development in completing the circle of science-technology- employment-competition-success-and wealth.
