Kannur, Kerala, July 8 (UNI) Kerala Industries Minister Elamaram Kareem today said the government would take all possible steps to protect the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) in the state.

Participating in a meet-the-press programme of the Press Club here, he said the sick PSUs would be revived and other PSUs would be directed to purchase products from sick PSUs.

Ruling out disposal of the properties of the sick PSUs to the private sector, Mr Kareem said, if necessary, the government would take over their land and hand it over to other PSUs.

Pointing out that many entrepreneurs hesitated to invest in Kerala, he said the government would find out the reason behind it. It would take initiatives to solve the issue and constitutute an Industrial Committee in this regard, he added.

Mr Kareem said an institute of fashion technology would be set up in Kannur, the hub of handloom industry, if suitable land was available.
