English language enhancing programmes in city
Chennai, Jul 8 (UNI) Trinity College, London, and Orient Longman Private Limited have decided to collaborate with schools in this city to enhance students' English skills, according to Orient Longman's Examination Division Consultant Joe Tun Sein.
Addressing a press conference here yesterday, he said they would conduct English language examinations in the city for students.
''We have examination centres in three of the schools in the city and would set up more examination centres,'' he said.
Referring to the Trinity College's English Examination, Director of Language examinations Clinton Rae said the Integrated Skills in English Examinations and Graded Examinations in Spoken English examinations were started in India two years back. Now the student community was more aware about the examination.
He said about 3,000 students had taken this examination in the past two years.
''We are expecting considerable growth for enhancing English in India. Now China is also trying to improve English proficiency level,'' he added.
