EC registers Bharatiya Jan Shakti
Bhopal, July 8 (UNI) Ms Uma Bharti-led Bharatiya Jan Shakti has become a registered political party with the Election Commission admitting its application after rejecting the objections raised by BJP, BJS's Madhya Pradesh unit President Raghunandan Sharma said today.
BJP General Secretary Arun Jaitley had raised objections on the party's name and Hindutva agenda.
Mr Sharma told reporters here after inaugurating the state office that the state executive committee would be constituted this month and its first meeting would be held in August. About five lakh people had been enrolled as members and this include about 30 former legislators belonging to Congress, BJP and BSP.
He said the district and block units would be constituted by next month and tbe second phase of membership drive would be launched after July 30.
Mr Sharma alleged that BJP leaders were indulging in amassing wealth as they realised that the party could not come to power again. Alleging rampant corruption and deteriorating law and order situation in Madhya Pradesh, he said two persons were killed in Narsinghpur district over forcible collection of tax at a toll barrier, managed by a relative of state BJP Organising Secretary.
Claiming that the state's BJP government would collapse any time, he said Ms Uma Bharti would tour all 230 Assembly constituencies after October to guage the people's mood.
