Dacoits attack truck drivers, loot cash
Hubli, July 8 (UNI) An armed gang of dacoits have assaulted the drivers and cleaners of two trucks on the Pune-Bangalore national highway and looted cash from them.
Police said dacoits, who came in a van, stopped the trucks and looted cash of Rs 30,600 after assaulting the drivers and cleaners, around midnight last night.
They first stopped a truck, carrying sugar bags to Mandya, around 0030 hours and snatched Rs 6,000 in cash. Later, they stopped another truck, carrying auto spares to Tamil Nadu from Kolhapur in Maharashtra, and looted cash of Rs 24,600.
After the driver of the first truck informed the police at Haveri, police rushed to the spot and chased the dacoits who sped in the van. The culprits later abandoned their vehicle near Bankapur cross and escaped under the cover of darkness.
